The construction of knitted and crocheted fabric provides me with the most meaningful surface design experiences. The west coast is a texture and colour feast, so I guess it’s not a surprise that some of my pieces look like sea creatures!
Even simple knitted or crocheted structures can be texturally mysterious. Spinning and dyeing my yarns, working with stitch and colour combinations, then shrinking, melting, and embellishing the surface, is delightfully unpredictable.
Living on the west coast, having simple tools, great yarn, and a little something sparkly. . . . . .that’s my work! Working Hands Fibre Arts Studio
