I love glass and color and am fascinated by what happens when I expose glass to high temperatures. I have been fusing glass for about three years and I am still amazed at the alchemy of glass and fire. I draw much inspiration from religious imagery – I like to choose a symbol, manipulate and rework it with strong lines and bright, bold colors and effectively reinvent and make new again something that is very old.

Jo Ludwig's kiln formed, glittering, palm-of-the-hand sized "Things of Beauty", requiring extensive grinding between as many as 6 firings, are unique to the glass world. Similarly, Peggy Brackett's exquisite glass jewelry is also unique because of her meticulous attention to detail and plenty of elbow grease grinding and polishing each piece to perfection. Come see for yourself!
Robert Held Art Glass

After experimenting with many different media, I discovered glass and was instantly captivated. The clarity of the glass, the roar of the furnaces, the heat, and even the constant danger were all factors that influenced my choice of this difficult yet beautiful medium. Glassblowing allows me to explore both painterly concerns and my fascination with surface decoration, while continuing to challenge the other physical and creative skills required to take the vessel shape in ever new directions.
