Gunter Reimnitz: Abraxas Crow Company
Forged and welded steel birds and salmon. Gunter is a full time sculptor specializing in steel garden sculpture. In the making of his work he utilizes such techniques as welding, forging, and cutting steel. The content of his artwork reflects his identity and experience as an Alaska-born fisherman. As such, he spent his youth and early adulthood observing creatures of the wild. Capturing the essence of these creatures, their gestures, and contours is both the focus and what Gunter enjoys most about his work.
Shannon Wardroper: Geernaerts Textile Arts
For an artisan, the blending of both motif and material gathered is a natural way to record a journey through multiple cultures. Originally from the west coast of Canada, Shannon Wardroper of Geernaerts Textile Arts has a background in textile design and art history from Alberta College of Art, Calgary and Emily Carr College of Art, Vancouver. She has both studied and taught for the last 10 years in Japan and Thailand with sojourns throughout SE Asia for study and research. Now, based in Canada yet continuing to exhibit and travel internationally, Shannon Wardorper creates textile arts imbued with motif and material in a unique cultural fusion.
MarLene Xenis: The Xenis Collection
Born and raised on the West Coast of British Columbia, Marlene was the inspiration for the creation and development of these wonderful dolls. A student in Royal Conservatory of Music and a member of the theatre guild for many years, the arts have always played an important role in her life. Approximately six years ago, Marlene began making dolls as a hobby. Although very basic, these dolls became popular enough that she entered several local craft shows where the dolls sold successfully.
