Opening Sunday February 10th 2008, from 10am - 1pm
Starting in 2003, Circle Craft Co-Operative initiated an external scholarship award program to support new and upcoming craftspeople. This annual program is part of Circle Craft’s commitment to community outreach programming, working in partnership with four BC institutions; Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design, Ceramics; Capilano College, Textile Arts Program; Vancouver Community College, Jewellery Program; and the Kootenay School of the Arts, Metal Program.
This group exhibition features the work of the 2007 student scholarship recipients.

Elizabeth Burritt Emily Carr Institute of Art & Design, Ceramics Program "My ceramic practice is focused around hand-drawn imagery on sculpted and cast porcelain forms. Influenced by both 2-D and 3-D traditions alike, I aim to combine surface and form in an exploratory manner, allowing the form to either inhibit or aid the imagery."
Vanessa Cunningham Capilano College, Textile Arts Program "This show is an exploration of personal inspiration. I like the method of creating a group of pieces that are created in various techniques but are interconnected by theme, personal biography and colour exploration."
Lacia Vogel Kootenay School of the Arts, Metal Program "This collection is inspired by two things: my own love of fantasy and myth, and meditations on an imaginary place. The sculpture of the dragon and the two seascape paintings are figments from the place my partner and I go to enjoy each other’s company when we are apart."
Zuza Bartekova Vancouver Community College, Jewellery Program "As a younger girl, I would collect pictures, first love notes, tickets to concerts and other keepsakes. I would put them in an old shoe box, which I kept hidden under my bed. This inspired me to make these lockets where you can hide your little secrets."
