I am a Vancouver-based artist who has been working in wool since 2009.
My background includes training and work in visual art, material culture research, museum studies, and graphic design. My focus is on one of a kind and small run production, with a commitment to sustainable practice through careful material sourcing, use of biodegradable and recycled/vintage/antique materials, and low impact production methods
My work in felted wool is exploratory, and is rooted in graphic design and museum anthropology. The bowls, soft and sturdy, are colourful and meant to be held and used everyday. The necklaces, which combine opposites (hard and soft, new and old) are an original design, and each is unique as I do not measure the materials while I work. The merino scarves, in contrast to most felted work, are deliberately plain, a graphic stripe on solid colour fields the only embellishment. My overall body of work is unified through colour and a warm and minimal aesthetic.
