From early childhood, Sandy Dougal’s desire to work with wood was very strong. It was a dream come true when, at the age of 15, he was given the opportunity to serve as an apprentice joiner/carpenter.
The small local Joiner Shop in a village on the North Sea of Scotland became the training ground for the next five years. The shop did not use power tools. All the work was crafted by hand. Part of the learning was making wooden planes, some of which are in his possession and still in use to this day.
