Vesna was born in Yugoslavia and has a Masters in Textile Art and Design from Belgrade University of Arts. She creates 3 dimensional mixed medium objects in wire.
I treat the wire like fibre, weaving it on the fabric loom and then sewing it into bags of various shapes and sizes. The bag is a symbol of our consumer society. I give it an artistic rehabilitation.
The lacquer coating that gives the bags their flaming colours makes them tarnish – free and washable. From tiny pouches for crystals to densely woven vessels and airy square bags resembling lunch sacks, my creations are sculptures but could be used as a fruit bowl, candle holders, flower vase
